YOU VS. NATURE · LIVE ARENA
Ten seconds.
Let the sky decide.
A quick browser challenge with actual lightning. Pick an active storm, lock a target and see what strikes before the clock runs out.
Play five live rounds →How a round works
- Find a storm using current lightning activity, or choose your own map point.
- Lock the target. It cannot be moved during the round.
- For ten seconds, the server counts unique new strikes inside the 100 km radius.
- A short settling period accepts eligible delayed observations. Old strikes do not score.
- Review your catches and score, then choose the next target.
How points work
Each round awards up to 700 points for proximity to the closest strike, plus 30 points per caught strike, capped at 300 catch points. The maximum is 1,000 per round and 5,000 per five-round run. Proximity points fall non-linearly as distance increases; a strike just inside the boundary is worth far less than a close one.
A detected feed interruption returns the affected attempt. Lightning animations illustrate observed strike locations; they are visual effects, not recorded video of the physical lightning.
Personal best, not a global leaderboard
You vs. nature keeps a personal best in this browser. It does not add points to Storm tickets or catches to Expedition. Clearing browser data removes that local best. See the mode guide for the two global leaderboards.
